Be creative with your methods. Do not just stay in the room and waste the whole afternoon. Ask them what they would do if they are not anxious at all. Find ways to get them out there or you can be the role model to the life that they have always wanted. Make them want what you have and the results shall come sooner than you have expected.

Let them learn about the pep talk which you personally use. When they realize that you have your fair share of fears, they shall be encouraged to try to live normally as possible. You will no longer have to try so hard to make them see that life is good.

Do not treat them like a child. When they get out of that room, they are basically on their own. So, make them accept reality as much as possible and that can serve as your greatest achievement as a medical professional. Be the change in people.
